Origin

Wanna (aka Oomphang) was born in Oomphang in Tak Province on the border with Burma. A foreign lady with a good heart bought Wanna and presented her to the Thai Elephant Conservation Center in 2002.

Nature

Wanna is a lovely elephant with distinctive orange spots on her ears. She is a little sensitive and easily frightened by loud noises, at the sound of which she usually runs away.

Special Story

Wanna doesn’t like dogs at all and will push them away with her trunk and even attempt to stamp on one if it dares to come too close.

Artistic Talents

Wanna started painting in 2003 and loves it. Her style has been consistent from the start, using delicate vertical strokes.

Mahout

Wanna’s mahout is 40 year old Somnut Kampira, born in October 1965. Somnut came to the Elephant Conservation Center in the year 2000 and has been Wanna’s mahout since 2002. Somnut is married to Inwan and they have one son.
