I am Thai, born in Chiang Mai and have been associated with the elephant art project from the beginning. I love elephants and have grown used to seeing them around me since I was a child and when this opportunity presented itself I jumped at the chance.
The elephant art project today known as TEAG was initiated by Henry Quick, a British citizen, in the year 2000 and he set up the original elephant art gallery website in 2002. Henry was the managing director of HQ Group Co.,Ltd, a company established in Chiang Mai in 1994 that manufactures paper and runs an art gallery. As Henry is very concerned about elephant conservation and is also an artist and art lover, the creation of an elephant art website that promoted the cause of elephant conservation was a natural extension of his interests.
In January 2006 The Elephant Art Gallery was made into a separate business,
independent from HQ Group and we revised and relaunched this website under
the original direction of Aum-Mon Weesatchanam, whose quotations appear
in many place in this site.
