The elephant art project was initiated by Henry Quick in the year 2000 and he set up the original elephant art gallery website in 2002. Henry was the managing director of HQ Group Co.,Ltd, a long established company in Chiang Mai that manufactures paper and runs an art gallery. Henry is very concerned about elephant conservation and he is also an art lover and so the creation of this website was a natural extension of his interests.

In January 2006 The Elephant Art Gallery was made into a separate business, independent from HQ Group and we revised and relaunched this website. My name is Aum-Mon Weesatchanam and I am the managing director of The Elephant Art Gallery.

I am Thai and I lived in Bangkok before moving to Chiang Mai in January 2003, which is when I first became involved in the elephant art project. I love all animals and when this opportunity presented itself I jumped at the chance.
